Toys in the Past
Discover how toys in the past were different from those of today. Become apprentices and meet the master toymaker. Visit our galleries and make your own toy to take home.
Meet Florence Nightingale
Learn about Florence Nightingale's life, discover objects she might have used and make a traditional lamp like the one she used for her night-time rounds.

All about Materials - Available from 2025
1.5 hours, max 15 pupils, £60.
Get hands-on with different objects and learn about the properties of materials. Create a colourful piece of art inspired by the beautiful and interesting artefacts in the museum's collection. Plus we'll give you a themed starting point to explore the galleries.
This event can be run on a carousel for groups of 30.
Key stages 1 and 2
Chocolate workshop
35 minutes, maximum 15 students per session, £45.
From the Mayans to the present: explore (and taste) different kinds of chocolate and discover its journey from the ancient world to the chocolate factories of Norwich.
Made in Norwich workshop
35 minutes, maximum 15 students, £45.
What has made Norwich a Fine City? Examine Norwich's industrial past which included the production of shoes, mustard and chocolate. Find out about the lives of the workers, see the tools they used and the products they made.
Teacher-led visits
Free for schools in Norfolk in term-time (outside term-time £2.40 per student). £2.40 per student for UK schools outside Norfolk. All visits must be booked in advance.

Key stage 3
Norwich in the Industrial Revolution
10am to 2pm, £6 per pupil, max 120 pupils. Minimum fee may apply.
Discover Norwich's industrial past and examine historic tools and documents used by Norwich industries including our most famous export, Colman's Mustard. Follow a museum trail and take a teacher-led tour of nearby post-industrial sites (map and details included).
